My daddy was a sailor man.
He liked to ride the waves,
but when the tides came rolling in,
he clutched his heart and prayed.
And when the clouds blew over his ship
and cast their darkness there,
and thunder rolled like a pair of dice
thrown hard and without a care,
my daddy puffed upon his pipe
and exhaled with all his might.
The ocean calmed, and the sun emerged
from beneath the fluffy whites.
Its smiling face filled up the sky
with the most beautiful of lights,
and now that my daddy’s work was done,
he would anchor up for another night.
